News and activities

Ensuring each resident feels valued and happy is at the forefront of all minds here at Aranlaw House. We make sure that each interaction with a resident counts by encouraging conversation, and we’re always there if a resident feels like they need a lengthy chat.

With each interaction, we take note of their mood, and we consult every ounce of knowledge that we know about them to bring their mood back up if they’re feeling low.

What do we get up to?

Our incredible activity line-up helps to boost morale and a general sense of wellbeing. All of our activities are tailored to benefit those who live with dementia, as they often involve mental stimulation and are simply formatted for maximum fun. The type of activities that our residents experience include:
• Arts and crafts
• Flower arranging
• Word games
• Games that encourage healthy competition
• Sing-a-longs
• Afternoon tea
• Baking
• Quizzes
Here at our care home in Poole, we encourage a sense of belonging by making sure that each resident feels involved and part of our close-knit community. We often host local schools, play groups and pet charities, and hold events in our garden, which friends and family are always welcome to attend.
In addition to our in-house program, we also organise regular trips out that our residents can choose to take part in. We often arrange trips out to:
• Museums and galleries
• The beach
• Garden centres
• Nativity plays
• Pantomimes and the cinema
• Fetes and fayres
• Bowling
